Anti-Bullying Week 2024: Choose Respect at Goldsmith Primary Academy

8th November 2024

At Goldsmith Primary Academy, we’re excited to take part in Anti-Bullying Week 2024 from Monday 11th November to Friday 15th November. This year’s theme, Choose Respect, encourages everyone to embrace kindness, celebrate each other’s unique qualities, and create a positive environment where bullying has no place.

A Week to Celebrate Uniqueness and Respect

Throughout the week, we’ll be focusing on the importance of treating each other with respect and kindness. A highlight of the week is Odd Socks Day, which will take place on Tuesday 12th November. On this special day, children and adults alike are invited to wear odd socks to celebrate what makes each of us unique. It’s a simple yet powerful way to remind ourselves that our differences make us special and deserve respect!

The Power of Music and Fun

The campaign, which is officially organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, has a special supporter this year: Andy Day, the CBBC and CBeebies star and patron of the Alliance. Andy and his band, Andy and the Odd Socks, will be kicking off the week with a lively new video for their song "Choose Respect". It’s a fantastic, catchy reminder of the importance of kindness, acceptance, and treating others with respect.

What is Anti-Bullying Week?

Anti-Bullying Week is a national UK initiative held in the third week of November each year. Since its founding in 2002, the event has grown into a vital opportunity for schools, communities, and individuals to raise awareness, prevent bullying, and offer practical guidance on how we can all contribute to a more inclusive world.

Why is Anti-Bullying Week Important?

This week serves as a powerful reminder of the positive impact we can all have on each other’s lives. By standing up against bullying, supporting those who are affected, and promoting a culture of respect, we can create a more compassionate and understanding community. It’s also a chance to help students develop empathy, understanding, and a commitment to inclusivity that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Let’s Celebrate Uniqueness Together

Remember to bring your odd socks on Tuesday 12th November and join us in spreading the message of respect and kindness!
