Every Day an Adventure: A Parent's Guide to a Happy and Successful Term

10th October 2025

A new school term is a time of excitement, new friendships, and wonderful adventures in learning. Here at our school, we see every family as part of our team. When we work together, we can help every child unlock their amazing potential and build the happy, confident start to life they deserve.

One of the most important ways we can team up is by making sure our children are in school, ready to learn, every single day it is possible. This short guide is filled with simple, positive ideas on how we can work in partnership to build strong routines that help our children thrive.

Every Day is a Piece of the Puzzle

Ever wonder why missing just one day matters? Think of learning like a giant, exciting jigsaw puzzle. Every day in school, your child is given a new piece. Each piece connects to the ones they already have, slowly revealing a bigger, wonderful picture of what they can achieve.

When a few pieces are missing, it can be tricky to see how the next ones fit. Being in school every day ensures your child gets every piece of the puzzle, helping them to see the full picture of their own amazing success story.

Our Top Tips for a Calm and Happy Morning

A positive school day always starts with a calm morning at home. Here are a few simple tips that can make a huge difference:

  • Prepare the Night Before: Laying out the uniform and packing the school bag the evening before is a brilliant way to reduce the morning rush. It’s a small habit that helps your child feel organised and ready for their day.

  • Fuel for Learning: A healthy breakfast, even something as simple as a piece of toast or a banana, gives your child the energy they need to focus and learn well all morning.

  • Talk About the Day: While they eat breakfast, chatting about one exciting thing they will do at school that day (like seeing a friend, a favourite lesson, or playtime) can help them feel positive about the day ahead.

'Worried' or 'Unwell'?

As a parent, you are the expert on your child. You also know that sometimes, a tummy ache can be a sign of a hidden worry rather than a real illness. If you ever notice a pattern of your child feeling unwell on school mornings, a gentle chat can make all the difference.

Please know that our team is always here to help. Your child's teacher is your first port of call, and our pastoral staff are always ready to support you and your child to figure things out together.
