Goldsmith Awarded Gold School Games Mark for 2024/25!

7th July 2025

We are delighted to announce that Goldsmith Primary Academy has once again been awarded the Gold School Games Mark for the 2024/25 academic year! This prestigious award recognises our commitment to delivering high-quality physical education, competitive sport, and inclusive sporting opportunities to all pupils.

This is the fifth consecutive year that Goldsmith has achieved the Gold Award, an huge achievement that reflects the hard work of our pupils, staff, and wider community. We are now eligible to achieve the Platinum School Games Mark in 2025, an ambitious goal we are excited to pursue.

A Record Breaking Year in School Sport

Over the past year, Goldsmith has continued to go from strength to strength in school sport, creating memorable and inclusive opportunities for pupils across all phases.

  • 232 pupils took part in after-school sporting clubs

  • 49 SEND and 148 disadvantaged pupils engaged in enrichment clubs

  • 216 children represented the school in 43 different events

  • A total of 17 after school sports clubs were offered each week

  • Sports included: football, tag rugby, archery, rounders, athletics, curling, basketball, dance, and more!

As a proud host of the HAF holiday programme, Goldsmith also offers sporting activities during the Winter, Easter, and Summer holidays, further widening access and participation.

Inclusive and Inspiring

At the heart of our success is a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves the chance to take part in sport. Whether it’s a competitive tournament, a festival, or an enrichment club, we make sure our sporting offer is inclusive, enjoyable, and accessible.

This year saw our pupils take part in a wide range of sports including:

  • Robin Hood Running Games

  • Inclusive archery and curling

  • Paralympic sports

  • Cross-country and baseball

  • Benchball, dodgeball, and more!

We also welcomed Paralympic medallist Mel Clarke for a masterclass event and hosted a community-wide celebration at WAT a Run 2025.

Black Country Games Finalists (Again!)

For the second year running, Goldsmith proudly represented Walsall in three sports at the Black Country Level 3 School Games Finals:

  • Sportshall Athletics

  • Tag Rugby

  • Inclusive Bowling

Our Sportshall Athletics team were crowned Walsall Champions, while our Inclusive Bowling team brought home a bronze medal after a tense play-off, both outstanding achievements that reflect our pupils’ determination, teamwork, and pride.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our sporting journey this year, from families and staff (especially Mr Perrin and Mr Jones for their fantastic organisation) to our amazing pupils, who continue to inspire us every day.
