At Goldsmith Primary Academy, our House System builds a strong sense of community, belonging, and pride across the school. It creates smaller families within our wider school community, enabling pupils to form positive relationships across year groups and work collaboratively towards shared goals.
Reflecting our phoenix emblem, our four houses — Merlin, Hawk, Eagle, and Falcon — symbolise ambition, courage, and the power to rise and soar. Each house embodies the values we promote through our ASPIRE framework: respect, responsibility, resilience, compassion, creativity, and collaboration. Every pupil joins a house on entry to Goldsmith and remains part of that team throughout their time with us, fostering loyalty, identity, and unity.
Pupils earn Dojo points for positive learning behaviours, effort, and contributions to school life. These points contribute both to individual rewards through The BANK and to their House Point totals. Houses are celebrated weekly in assembly, with the leading house recognised for their collective success. At the end of each half term, overall winners are rewarded for their sustained teamwork and embodiment of “The GPA Way.”
The House System also plays a central role in our sporting and enrichment life, providing the structure for inter-house competitions and our annual Sports Day. These events promote teamwork, resilience, and healthy competition while strengthening friendships and school spirit.
In the summer term, we hold House Celebration Days, when each house comes together for a day of shared activities, reflection, and celebration of their achievements throughout the year. These events reinforce unity, pride, and the joy of belonging to something bigger than oneself.
Our House System proudly carries the school’s Latin motto, which translates to “We dream, we rise, we aspire.” This motto perfectly encapsulates what it means to be part of Goldsmith — a community where every child is encouraged to aim high, lift others, and embody the spirit of aspiration in all they do.
Through the House System, pupils learn the importance of shared responsibility, perseverance, and collective achievement. It empowers every child to contribute to something greater — instilling pride, motivation, and a lasting sense of belonging as they Dream. Rise. ASPIRE.
