Uniform

Ethos and Vision:

Our policy is based on the belief that a school uniform:

  •      Promotes a sense of pride in the school
  •      Engenders a feeling of belonging
  •      Is practical and distinctive
  •      Identifies the pupils with the school
  •      Is not distracting in class
  •      Makes pupils feel equal to one another in terms of appearance
  •      Reflects the sense both of community and of diversity that the school takes pride in
  •      Is regarded as suitable, and good value for money

Some decisions on school uniform policy are made to maintain health and safety. For example, pupils are more easily identified on a school trip if they are wearing a sweatshirt or cardigan with the school badge.

We are committed to sustainability and offer a ‘Sustainability Swap Shop’ where parents can find pre-loved, second-hand uniforms. Additionally, a local charity shop provides Goldsmith pre-loved uniforms.

For more information, please contact the school and ask for Mrs. Twells.

Jewellery:

  • Allowed: Small silver or gold stud earrings (must be removed for PE).
Jewellery for religious reasons is allowed with written permission from the headteacher.
  • Not Permitted: Large earrings, body piercings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, makeup, or coloured nail varnish.
These are not permitted for reasons of health and safety and are common practice in most primary schools in the United Kingdom. Details of this can be found at: https://www.hse.gov.uk/services/education/.

Hair:

  • Style: Long hair should be tied up with dark-colored accessories (small black bow allowed).
