Careers Education

Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance - Hanley Castle High School and Sixth FormAt Goldsmith, we believe that careers education begins with curiosity. From the earliest years, pupils are encouraged to connect their learning to life, helping them dream big, rise academically, and ASPIRE to a bright future. Our Pre-Gatsby Careers Framework ensures that every child develops an early awareness of the world of work and begins to see how classroom learning links to real professions. Careers education is not a standalone programme — it is woven through every subject. Teachers use Careers Slides to make connections explicit, showing pupils how subjects like science, geography, art and computing lead to exciting and varied career paths.

We nurture a culture of aspiration and opportunity, with pupils inspired by a diverse range of visitors and role models from across the community — from NHS workers and engineers to artists and entrepreneurs. Through the Junior Leadership Team, pupils take on authentic leadership roles that mirror workplace responsibilities, developing communication, teamwork, and organisational skills. This partnership between careers learning and pupil leadership helps raise aspiration and confidence, preparing pupils to become responsible, resilient and ambitious citizens. By the time they leave Goldsmith, every child has explored pathways into college, university, apprenticeships, and employment, with the belief that their ambitions are within reach.
