Civic Duty and Leadership

Civic Leadership and Responsibility

At Goldsmith Primary Academy, we believe that schools sit at the heart of their communities — not only as places of learning, but as centres of care, connection, and civic action. Our commitment to civic leadership means working in partnership with families, local organisations, and public services to create lasting impact beyond the classroom.

Guided by the mission to help every child belong, achieve and thrive, we see civic responsibility as both an educational duty and a moral one — ensuring that our pupils grow up understanding the power of community and the importance of giving back.

Our ASPIRations Hub

In partnership with Walsall Council, Public Health, and the NHS, we are proud to be developing the Goldsmith ASPIRations Hub — a dedicated community space that brings essential services closer to families. While the building undergoes development, the hub is already being run through our school site, offering Stay & Play sessions for single parents, health checks, family workshops, and drop-in support for wellbeing, education, and early help.

The hub embodies our belief that education and health are inseparable, and that by removing barriers for families, we can help every child reach their full potential.

Partnerships that Make a Difference

Our civic programme includes collaboration with the NHS, West Midlands Police, Walsall Council, and a wide range of charities and local organisations. Together, we deliver initiatives such as:

  • School Nursing programmes (including the 24–30 month developmental reviews and Next Generation sessions)

  • The Teens and Toddlers Youth Development programme with Shelfield Academy

  • Parent first aid training, community litter picks, and public health awareness events

  • YouMatter Mentoring, Rotokids international outreach, and local charity fundraising such as FoodCycle and Compassion Direct UK’s Fund a Food programme

These partnerships are more than community events — they are shared commitments to improving lives, raising aspirations, and reducing inequalities.

Leading with Purpose

Goldsmith’s civic mission is rooted in Windsor Academy Trust’s vision to unlock academic and personal potential. Through civic leadership, we ensure our pupils not only learn about the world but actively shape it — becoming compassionate, responsible citizens ready to lead positive change in their communities and beyond.
