At Goldsmith Primary Academy, the safety and welfare of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining a strong culture of vigilance, where every member of staff understands their safeguarding responsibility and acts swiftly to protect children from harm.
Safeguarding is everyone’s duty, and at Goldsmith we go above statutory expectations. All members of the Senior Leadership Team and the Student Services Team are fully DSL-trained, ensuring that a Designated Safeguarding Lead is available at all times to support children, families, and staff.
All staff receive regular safeguarding training, including Walsall Local Authority Level 1 Child Protection, Prevent, and ongoing refresher sessions throughout the year. Our approach aligns fully with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and Ofsted’s emphasis on safeguarding being embedded across every aspect of school life.
If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please contact a member of our Safeguarding Team immediately.
Student Services TeamIf you have a safeguarding concern contact Mrs Middleton or Mrs Taylor-Janes on 01922 710182 and then select option 3.

Family and Behaviour SupportWe recognise that strong families make strong learners. Our Family Support Worker, Mrs Taylor-Janes, offers practical help and advice to parents and carers on:
Accessing Early Help through Walsall Family Hubs
Managing children’s behaviour at home
Parenting programmes and family wellbeing
Funding for free school meals or uniform grants
Food bank vouchers, housing support, and referrals to partner agencies
Our behaviour support helps pupils overcome barriers to learning through 1:1 mentoring, nurture groups, ELSA, Lego Therapy, classroom support, lunchtime clubs, and Forest School sessions, all designed to build confidence and emotional resilience. We have lots of links with other agencies too so if we can’t help, hopefully, we'll know someone who can!
At Goldsmith Primary Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every child’s health and wellbeing needs are met so they can thrive in school. We understand that some pupils require additional medical support, and we take great care to ensure that this is managed safely, sensitively, and in partnership with families and health professionals.
We are proud to have our own Medical Officer, Mrs Franks, who leads our approach to health and medical care in school. Mrs Franks liaises directly with medical professionals to ensure that all medical care plans are accurate, up to date, and effectively shared with relevant staff.
A significant proportion of our staff are Emergency First Aid trained, ensuring rapid support in the event of an injury or medical concern. In addition, all staff working in and alongside EYFS are Paediatric First Aid trained, enabling expert response to the needs of our youngest pupils.
All staff receive appropriate training to manage a wide range of medical conditions, including allergies, asthma, diabetes and epilepsy. Medication can be administered on school premises with prior written consent from parents or carers, ensuring pupils receive the care they need throughout the school day.
Through robust communication, clear procedures and a compassionate approach, we ensure that children with medical needs are fully included in school life and can belong, achieve and thrive alongside their peers.
We are committed to the Operation Encompass Partnership. This is an information-sharing partnership educational settings and all police forces. This allows schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. You can find more information about Operation Encompass here.
