At Goldsmith Primary Academy, we are innovators, engineers and designers. Our Design and Technology (DT) curriculum, built on the Kapow scheme and enhanced by our bespoke ‘Grand Designs’ unit, inspires curiosity, creativity and problem-solving through authentic, real-world contexts. Pupils learn to think like designers—developing and refining ideas through the Design–Make–Evaluate process—while applying key technical skills in structures, mechanisms, electrical systems, textiles, and food technology. Drawing inspiration from industry role models, pupils build resilience, resourcefulness and an understanding of how design shapes our world.

As an Apple Distinguished School, digital design, research and evaluation are seamlessly integrated across all year groups, allowing pupils to explore, model and present ideas using technology. Progression from EYFS to Year 6 ensures pupils develop precision, creativity and independence, underpinned by the Windsor Academy Trust ASPIRE values. By the time they leave Goldsmith, children are confident, reflective and innovative designers who combine creativity with technical understanding to produce purposeful, high-quality outcomes that connect learning to life.
