At Goldsmith, we are geographers...
At Goldsmith, we are geographers. Our trust-wide curriculum, collaboratively developed across Windsor Academy Trust and first incepted by Milton and Greenways Primary Academies, enables pupils to explore, question, and understand the world around them. From EYFS to Year 6, pupils develop deep knowledge of places, people, and environments while strengthening their locational, human, and physical geography skills. Lessons are enquiry-based, practical and knowledge-rich, following a carefully sequenced progression that builds conceptual understanding year on year. Through our theme-led approach, geography connects meaningfully with other subjects and is enhanced by digital tools, fieldwork, and real-world exploration, inspiring curiosity, empathy and a sense of global responsibility.
Pupils are assessed through a range of formative strategies, including Socrative quizzes, SMART Start recall tasks, teacher assessment for learning, and pupil voice. Each unit culminates in a ‘Fabulous Finish’, where pupils showcase and apply their geographical knowledge and skills. Teachers use ongoing assessment and feedback to address misconceptions, adapt teaching in real time, and ensure sustained progress. Subject leads monitor learning across school to ensure consistency and progression. This responsive approach ensures that pupils know more, remember more and can do more—developing into confident, reflective and responsible geographers, equipped to understand and contribute positively to an ever-changing world.
