At Goldsmith, we are historians...
At Goldsmith, we are historians. Our history curriculum, collaboratively designed across Windsor Academy Trust and originally developed by Milton and Greenways Primary Academies, inspires pupils to be curious, reflective and analytical thinkers. We go beyond the National Curriculum by combining knowledge-rich content with enquiry-led learning, enabling pupils to make meaningful connections between the past, present and future. From EYFS onwards, pupils develop a secure sense of chronology, explore cause and consequence, and evaluate sources and interpretations. Through immersive experiences, artefacts and digital tools, we bring history to life — nurturing curiosity, empathy and an appreciation for how the past shapes our world today.
Pupils are assessed through formative strategies such as Socrative quizzes, SMART Start recall tasks and teacher observation, which provide regular insight into their understanding of key historical knowledge and concepts. Assessment outcomes inform responsive teaching, ensuring that pupils build secure and connected understanding over time. Lessons are inclusive and accessible, using scaffolds, visual aids and iPad accessibility tools to support all learners. Every child is encouraged to think critically, ask questions and develop a deeper understanding of human stories — ensuring that, at Goldsmith, history empowers pupils to see themselves as part of an ongoing narrative of change and progress.
