At Goldsmith Primary Academy, we are mathematicians and problem solvers. Our curriculum develops fluency, reasoning and problem-solving so that every pupil becomes a confident, resilient learner equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the modern world. We follow the ARK Mastery Maths Programme, enhanced with I See Reasoning, to ensure high challenge, deep conceptual understanding and mastery for all learners. Teaching follows a Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) model, enabling pupils to make connections between practical, visual and abstract representations. Lessons are highly structured, ensuring pupils build knowledge systematically while reasoning and applying mathematics to real-life contexts. Our approach fosters perseverance, curiosity and independence, empowering pupils to see themselves as capable mathematicians.

Mathematics is delivered through five key components: ARK Mastery Maths lessons, Same Day Keep Up, Maths Meetings, Multiplication Fluency, and Arithmetic. Each element plays a vital role in building cumulative understanding—Maths Meetings revisit prior learning; Same Day Catch-Up ensures no child is left behind; and Multiplication is developed through Times Tables Rock Stars and the 99 Club, encouraging fluency and confidence. Impact is measured through ongoing feedforward assessment, ARK reasoning and arithmetic assessments, and continuous tracking of multiplication knowledge.

Manipulatives are embedded across all year groups to ensure inclusion and accessibility, while I See Reasoning provides rich, open-ended challenges that deepen understanding and stretch every learner. Through this consistent and ambitious approach, our pupils develop strong mathematical foundations and a genuine love of learning that prepares them for success beyond Goldsmith.
