At Goldsmith, we are musicians...

At Goldsmith, we are musicians. Our music curriculum, built on the Kapow Primary scheme and enhanced by our bespoke “Power of Performance” unit, provides every pupil with the opportunity to explore, create and perform. From the early years onwards, pupils develop an understanding of rhythm, pitch and notation through singing, playing instruments and composing music. Music is woven throughout our curriculum and daily school life, supporting creativity, confidence and wellbeing. The subject promotes teamwork, expression and enjoyment, helping pupils to connect with one another and to the world around them through the shared language of music.
Music and performance are central to our school culture. Pupils experience high-quality teaching through class-based lessons and our extensive peripatetic offer, provided by Walsall Music Hub and RockSteady Music. Walsall Music Hub delivers whole-class Djembe tuition in Years 3–5, while RockSteady enables pupils from Year 2 upwards to perform in real band settings. Pupils also have opportunities to showcase their talents at RockSteady concerts, Windsor Academy Trust Collective Showcases, and Young Voices. Through assemblies, performances and celebrations, every child is encouraged to develop musical confidence, creativity and pride — ensuring that at Goldsmith, music truly brings our community together.
